The Lagos State Police Command says it recovered a stun gun from televangelist and Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin.

Pastor Adefarasin was quizzed earlier on Tuesday by detectives from the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen pointing a gun-like object against another road user in Lagos.

He was consequently invited by the police for questioning.

The Televangelist turned himself in at the State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, while giving an update on the outcome of interrogation said, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment.

Hundeyin stated that the pastor has been granted bail while investigations were ongoing.

A bishop, Rt. Rev. Gideon Ilechukwu has indicted church leaders for the resurgence of idols worship in Igbo Land , particularly in Anambra and Enugu State.

Ilechukwu, also a medical doctor, is the Bishop of the Anglican Missionary Congregations (AMC), in the United Kingdom and Europe.

He attributed the revival of idol worship in Igbo land to the failure of Christians to live out their faith, particularly their leaders.

Bishop Ilechukwu spoke at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, during the 33rd Synod of the Diocese on the Niger.

“We are the reason idol worship is resurging because of our way of life.

If people saw the light in us, if our lives truly reflected Christ, they would not return to paganism.

If all of us truly preached Christ and lived accordingly, there would be no rush back to idol worship in Igbo land.”

He warned that introducing idols into Igbo communities contradicts Christian beliefs and would bring grave consequences.

The Methodist Bishop of Umuahia Dioceses, Archbishop Raphael Opoko, , added that Churches should not promote bad lifestyle, celebrate people of questionable wealth and character .

Archbishop Opoko emphasized that the failure of church leaders to live exemplary lives worthy of their faith and to speak out against unwholesome practices by some of their members with questionable characters, rather emboldens them to continue in their bad path.

He said: “I totally agree with him that pastors are to blame for this sad development. We are keeping quiet instead of speaking out against the attitudes of some people who, in their quest for wealth get into so many things.

This projects the church as promoters of bad lifestyle.

“The church is now celebrating anybody that has money including politicians that have money without asking questions…”

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) says that the government must remain focused on dealing with the challenges around food movement from farms to the cities.

The Director-General of LCCI , Dr Chinyere Almona, made the call citing the recent spate of herdsmen-farmers clashes in the middle belt and floods which the LCCI believes are negative signals capable of limiting food harvest this year.

Almona called on the government to urgently scale up support for dry season farming, irrigation infrastructure and mechanisation to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on rainy season food production.

She said that addressing inefficiencies in transporting goods, particularly food, from rural to urban markets can help lower market prices and reduce post-harvest losses.

The DG added that government’s spending must prioritise critical sectors with high inflation pass-through such as food, energy and transport, while eliminating leakages and enhancing social safety nets for vulnerable households.
