Life After Abuse Foundation Launches Men’s Support Helpline on International Men’s Day

In recognition of International Men’s Day, Life After Abuse Foundation (LAAF) announces the launch of a dedicated men’s support helpline. This initiative aims to provide free, specialized medical, legal, and psychosocial support to men facing various challenges due to abuse, trauma, or related issues.
The Men’s Support Helpline, operational from 9am to 5pm, 7 days a week, will offer a safe and confidential space for men in need of assistance. Recognizing the often unspoken struggles faced by men, this helpline is a crucial step towards breaking the silence and encouraging individuals to seek the support they deserve.
Amid societal stereotypes and stigmas, men are frequently discouraged from expressing vulnerabilities or seeking help. In alignment with this year’s International Men’s Day theme of ‘Zero Male Suicide’, the helpline endeavours to create a supportive environment where men can comfortably seek assistance without judgement.

The support provided through the helpline includes but is not limited to:
– Specialized medical assistance
– Legal guidance and resources
– Psychosocial counselling and emotional support
To reach out for support, individuals can dial +2347064145539 to access the services of the Men’s Support Helpline. Trained professionals will be available to listen, offer guidance, and provide necessary assistance, ensuring utmost confidentiality and respect for each caller’s privacy.
Founder and CEO of Life After Abuse Foundation, Halima Layeni, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “It’s crucial to recognize that men too can be victims of abuse and trauma and face challenges in seeking help. With the launch of the Men’s Support Helpline, we aim to break the barriers that prevent men from accessing support services. Men benefit significantly from seeking mental health support, experiencing improved well-being, enhanced relationships, better physical health, increased self-awareness, and stress management skills. Our goal is to create a safe space where men feel empowered to seek assistance and begin their journey towards healing and recovery.”
This initiative aligns with LAAF’s commitment to advocating for survivors of abuse, irrespective of gender, and fostering a society where everyone feels empowered to seek support without fear or shame.
Life After Abuse Foundation encourages all men to break the silence, reach out for help, and take a step towards a healthier, happier life.

Lagos Resumes Second Phase of Ogudu–Ifako Bridge Repairs

The Lagos State Government has announced the start of the second phase of repair works on the Ogudu–Ifako Bridge (inbound Island), set to begin on Wednesday.
In a statement released Tuesday, Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the repairs follow a review of the traffic management plan after challenges faced during the first phase. To minimise disruption, the Ministry of Transportation has issued a traffic advisory with alternative routes.
Motorists heading to Oshodi from the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway or Toll Gate are advised to take the Ojota Slip Road to connect to Ikorodu Road (inward Anthony, near Taxi Park). Those travelling to Victoria Island can also use the Ojota Slip Road to reach Ikorodu Road, continue through Gbagada, and access the Third Mainland Bridge.
Drivers from Ikeja and surrounding areas should proceed via Maryland to Ikorodu Road or Funsho Williams Avenue, then take Eko Bridge to Outer Marina.
Commissioner Osiyemi stressed that the partial closure of the bridge is necessary for the maintenance process and urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officers, maintain lane discipline, and use the designated alternative routes.
He also appealed to road users to plan their journeys ahead and remain patient during the period of the repairs, noting that the inconvenience is temporary and aimed at improving road infrastructure across the state.
