Ahead Inauguration: Tinubu departs Nigeria for Europe, gives reasons for trip
Nigeria’s President-elect, Bola Tinubu on Wednesday departed Nigeria for Europe to finetune the transition plans, programmes, and policy options with some of his key aides without distractions.
During the visit, the President-elect will engage with investors and other key allies with the goal of marketing investment opportunities in the country and his administration’s readiness to enable a business-friendly climate through policies and regulations.
A statement by his Media Aide, Tunde Rahman said: “Already, meetings with multi-sectoral actors in Europe’s business community including manufacturing, agriculture, tech and energy have been lined up.
“Asíwájú Tinubu hopes to convince them of Nigeria’s readiness to do business under his leadership through mutually-beneficial partnerships premised on jobs creation and skills acquisition.
“Reviving the country’s economy forms a major plank of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and the meeting is part of his efforts to re-establish Nigeria’s importance in the global economic chain and create empowering opportunities for the country’s huge youth population.
“The President-elect has hitherto promised to hit the ground running and the visit is reflective of his commitment to the promise as he has already begun talks with global actors in the important areas of the economy and security.”
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has found the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, guilty on count-1 of the terrorism charge the Federal Government preferred against him.
The court said it was satisfied that Kanu made series of broadcasts to incite violence and killings, in furtherance of his separatist agitation for Biafra.
Trial Justice James Omotosho based his decision on what he described as “uncontroverted evidence” that was adduced before the court by the prosecution.

Judge Expels Kanu from courtroom
As the court prepared to deliver judgment, Kanu objected, insisting he had not filed his final written address.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court this morning, ordered Nnamdi Kanu out of the courtroom for unruly behaviour midway through Thursday’s proceedings.
The trial judge is set to deliver judgment in a case spanning ten years.
The judge had earlier dismissed three fresh motions filed by Kanu, ruling them unmeritorious.
As the court prepared to deliver judgment, Kanu objected, insisting he had not filed his final written address.
He raised his voice, accused the judge of bias, and declared that the court “did not know the law.”
Following the outburst, security operatives escorted Kanu from the courtroom. Justice Omotosho is now set to proceed with reading the final judgment in the long‑running terrorism case.
A serious accident on Thursday morning caused heavy traffic at the Otedola Bridge, just before the Lagos State Secretariat, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded.
The gridlock has severely slowed movement, disrupting the morning rush as motorists struggle to navigate the heavily congested route.
As of now, no emergency team has arrived at the scene to manage the situation or restore traffic flow.
