Gov Bello’s wife reconstructs school, clinic, equips them for Eika community in Kogi Central (PHOTOS)

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, has on Monday, inaugurated a school and clinic, reconstructed and fully equipped by his wife Barr. Amina Oyiza Bello, for the Eika-Ohizenyi community in Okehi Local Government Area of the state.

While inaugurating the projects, financed by the Governor’s wife through her pet project, Hayat Foundation, Gov. Bello urged other privileged citizens to contribute their resources, no matter how little, to the development of their communities.

The two projects were unveiled to celebrate the 16th birthday of the Governor’s first son, Hayatula Bello, in whose name Hayat  Foundation was initiated.

While inaugurating the projects – Eika-Ohizenyi Community Clinic and Al-Dabiya Primary and Secondary School, also in the community, the Governor particularly lauded the vision of the founding fathers of the school initially conceived and operated as an Islamic school but later expanded to offer both Islamic and Western education.

In appreciation of the efforts of his wife to change the fortunes of her people through the initiatives, the Governor declared free education for pupils of the school as well as secondment of teachers to strengthen the man-power need of the school.

He also revealed that the administration would ensure construction of the access road to the school in addition to the provision of a bus to facilitate academic activities in the school.

On her part, the wife of the Governor and founder of Hayat Foundation, Barr. Amina Bello, said the projects signified special home-coming for her, noting that the clinic would run three days free medicare for residents of the community.

Thrilled by the joy and excitement of her people as a result of the projects, she narrated how she had always been inspired to make a difference in the lives of the people through selfless services and supports.

She commended her husband, Governor Bello for providing whole-hearted support for the success of the projects, noting that he had been there for her and Hayat Foundation in all its undertakings.

Barrister Bello called on the youths to make themselves available in the service of the society, urging them to contribute their time and skills through community volunteering with a view to adding positive values to their environment.

The Lagos State Government has issued a fresh warning to residents living in low-lying areas across Lekki, Ikorodu, and Ajegunle to relocate immediately to higher ground, as more flooding is expected due to intensified rainfall this season.

The State’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, gave the order during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday.

The warning comes after parts of the state were severely flooded on Monday following marathon rainfall that began Sunday night and continued through the next day. Viral videos

He advised the affected communities to act now to avoid avoidable disasters as the rains intensify.

“Those around the Ajilete axis of Lagos, that’s Ajegunle, have to move,” Wahab said. “Those around the coastline of Ikorodu; Majidun, have to move. Some areas around the Lekki corridor too — not all.”

Wahab specifically mentioned Isheri in the OPIC area as another flood-prone location where residents should be on high alert.

Death toll from Adamawa flood increases to 29

The death toll after the flood that hit Adamawa State capital about 10 days ago has been put at 29.

The Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta gave the update on Tuesday, in Yola when the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu provided support for affected residents.

Kaletapwa, who represented Governor Ahmadu Fintiri during the symbolic distribution of the cash and other relief items to the flood victims, said the latest assessment of the effects of the July 27, 2025 floods showed, by Monday August 4, that 29 people in total had died as a result of the flood.

The flood in view had swept through communities in Yola South, one of the two local government areas constituting the twin Yola capital territory, and has come to be seen as one of the worst floods that have been recorded in the capital city in recent times.

Farauta, who said the state government had done much on its own to help the victims of the flood, thanked Remi Tinubu for intervening.

Popular Broadcaster, Morayo Afolabi-Brown Resigns from TVC

Popular broadcaster and host of Your View, Morayo Afolabi-Brown, has officially resigned from TVC Communications after 12 years of service.

Her departure was confirmed in a statement issued by Edward Akintara, Manager of PR, Corporate Communications & Marketing at TVC.

According to the statement, her final working day will be Thursday, August 29, 2025.

Morayo, who also serves as the Managing Director of TVC Entertainment, is stepping down to pursue a long-held personal passion.

“We celebrate her for the incredible impact she has made, not only on Your View, but also to millions of viewers across Nigeria and beyond,” the statement read.

Describing her resignation as a significant moment for the station, TVC assured viewers that Your View will continue with the same standard of excellence.

“Morayo will be dearly missed, however, the show remains strong and will continue to deliver the quality and relevance our audience has come to expect,” the company added.

TVC expressed gratitude for her years of dedication and service, praising her as a “source of inspiration” and a key contributor to the network’s success in daytime programming.

“Her legacy at TVC Communications will endure, and she will always remain a cherished member of the TVC family,” the statement concluded.
