JUST IN: I am Still In The Race For Senate President – Orji Kalu
The former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Uzo Kalu, says that the Igbo presidency of the Senate is very much alive and that he is still in the race for the 10th Senate President.
Kalu reaffirms his bid for while fielding questions from journalist at the lobby of the Senate, minutes ago.
Ohibaba.com learned that barely two weeks to the inauguration of the 10th Senate, Kalu has entered into an alliance with the former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdullaziz Yari, to produce the next Senate President.
However, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had endorsed Goodwill Akpabio, and Barau Jibrin as Senate President and deputy Senate President.
kicking against the party’s position, Senator Kalu told journalists that what happened during Olusola Saraki, is likely to happen on June 13th, 2023 as himself and Senator Yari are discussing who should be the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President.
He added that in a couple of days, such plans will be made public.
On why he has kept such an ambition secret for some time, Kalu said: “We have the largest press but we decided to go underground.
On the transition that just took place following the swearing in of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the President of Nigeria, Kalu said that he is happy Nigeria transited to another civilian government without rancour.

JAMB releases Thursday’s UTME results
In a statement issued by the Board on Friday, and signed by its spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, candidates were advised to check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number (SIM) used during registration.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has released the results of candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Thursday, April 16, 2026, with a total of 632,788 results now available for viewing.
In a statement issued by the Board on Friday, and signed by its spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, candidates were advised to check their results by sending “UTMERESULT” via SMS to 55019 or 66019, using the same phone number (SIM) used during registration.
JAMB clarified that at this stage, candidates can only view their results, as printing options are not yet available.
It also issued a strong warning against attempts to manipulate or alter result messages received from official channels, stressing that such actions constitute a criminal offence.
The Board added that it is already taking action against offenders, revealing that some suspects are currently in custody.
“Currently, two candidates and one parent are in custody for engaging in result falsification using AI and other electronic means. Any candidate found culpable will face the full consequences of the law,” it stated.
