The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress APC have kicked against the request of the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar for live telecast of his petition challenging the victory of Tinubu in the presidential election.

In their separate objections on Thursday, these parties insisted that solemn nature of the court would be put in jeopardy if the cameras are allowed in the courtroom.

Tinubu in his objections raised by Wole Olanipekun said that Atiku’s request was surprising adding that granting such will amount to turning the Court to a football stadium, a crusade ground a theatre or film grounds where all manners of telecast could be permitted.

Lateef Fagbemi who opposed on behalf of APC faulted the request added that a policy documents are not there for the application to be granted.

In its own objections by its counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud said the Courtroom is for serious business and that the call for live coverage is unnecessary and uncalled for and should not be granted.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Presidential Election Petition Court, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani has reserved ruling on whether to grant the request or not.
