Tinubu Jubilates as PH Refinery Roars into Production ● Says Warri, Kaduna Next

President Bola Tinubu is jubilating on the successful revitalization of the Port Harcourt refinery, marked by the official commencement of petroleum products loading on November 26, 2024.
The President acknowledges the pivotal role of former President Muhammadu Buhari in initiating the comprehensive rehabilitation of all our refineries and expresses gratitude to the African Export-Import Bank for its confidence in financing this critical project.
In a state signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy), President Tinubu also commends the leadership of NNPC Limited’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mele Kyari, whose unwavering dedication and commitment were instrumental in overcoming challenges to achieve this milestone.
With the successful revival of the Port Harcourt refinery, President Tinubu urges NNPC Limited to expedite the scheduled reactivation of both the second Port Harcourt refinery and the Warri and Kaduna refineries.
These efforts will significantly enhance domestic production capacity alongside the contributions of privately-owned refineries and make our country a major energy hub, with the gas sector also enjoying unprecedented attention by the administration.
The President underscores his administration’s determination to repair the nation’s refineries, aiming to eradicate the disheartening perception of Nigeria as a major crude oil producer that lacks the ability to refine its own resources for domestic consumption.
He highlights the values of patience, integrity, and accountability in the rebuilding of the nation’s infrastructure.
President Tinubu calls upon individuals, institutions, and citizens entrusted with responsibilities to maintain focus and uphold trust in their service to the nation.
In alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda focused on shared economic prosperity for all, the President reaffirms his administration’s commitment to achieving energy sufficiency, enhancing energy security, and boosting export capacity for Nigeria.

Falana Warns Sealing Embassies Over Ground Rent is Diplomatically Dangerous
“As far as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations is concerned, the premises of any embassy in Abuja are inviolable,” he said.

*Human Rights lawyer, Femi Fala
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has faulted the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) over threats to seal embassies and other properties in Abuja over unpaid ground rent.
He described the move as illegal and diplomatically dangerous.
Falana, during an appearance on Channels, said that any attempt to close embassies violates the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, which guarantees the inviolability of diplomatic premises.
“As far as the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations is concerned, the premises of any embassy in Abuja are inviolable,” he said.
“By virtue of Article 22 of that convention, the premises of an embassy, their furnishings, and even their vehicles shall be immune from such requisition, attachment, or execution. No court of law can order that execution be levied on any embassy.”
The human rights lawyer said Nigeria, as a signatory to the Convention, must not violate international law, stressing that any such action by the FCTA could result in serious diplomatic consequences.
