Police: Crime Reels Across Benue, Delta and Kebbi
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the operatives for these milestone achievements in the fight against crime and criminality.

The Nigeria Police Force successfully raided an illegal weapons manufacturing factory on the 11th of January, 2025 at Tse Akamabe Area of Kwande LGA, Benue State, the house of a cultist in Delta, and the arrest of two suspect for murders in Kebbi State. In a statement with the Ref No. CZ.5300/FPRD/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.6/337, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force PRO, Force Headquarters Abuja, said : “The Police carried out a well-coordinated operation that led to the discovery of an illegal weapons manufacturing factory at Tse Akamabe Area of Kwande LGA, Benue State and arrested two suspects namely Friday Aduduakambe ‘m’ and Iorwashima Iornyume ‘m’ aka “AK” aged 35 years. Upon a coordinated search of the factory, the following items were recovered; 9 locally fabricated pistols, 1 locally fabricated Ak47 riffle (unfinished), 2 gas cylinders, 4 vise machines, 1 filing machine and numerous other weapons manufacturing tools.
In another development, police operatives attached to the Delta State Command acted upon credible intelligence raided an apartment in DSC belonging to a notorious Eiye confraternity member named Prosper Akeni aged 32 years, a hit man for the cult group.
The following items were recovered; 1 English revolver pistol, 1 berretta pistol, 2 locally made double barrel gun, 2 locally made single barrel gun, 1 locally made revolver pistol, 1 locally made single barrel pistol and 25 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect confessed that the guns recovered belonged to his cult group and he was in custody of them as the number one man in the group.
Equally, the Police on December 31, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM, arrested Yunusa Haruna, a 25-year-old male from Bakin Turu Village in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, who fatally stabbed his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, with a sharp knife in the chest.
In response to the ugly incident, a team of police officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Shanga promptly raced to the scene and arrested the suspect.
Also another suspect, one Abubakar Ummar, was arrested in Zuru Village on 8th January, 2025 for stabbing one Mohammed Bala during an argument leading to his immediate demise.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the operatives for these milestone achievements in the fight against crime and criminality.
He has charged police operatives to intensify efforts in ensuring sanctity is restored across the country.
The IGP further encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant at all times and share useful information to the Police in order to have a community-based policing system.”

BREAKING: Terrorism: Sokoto High Court Impose Death Penalty on Three Including a Foreigner Arrested by DSS
*Convicts To Forfeit Crime Proceeds to Federal Government
A High Court sitting in Sokoto State has sentenced three men, including a foreign national, to death by hanging, following their conviction on charges bothering on terrorism and arms proliferation.

Yusuf Muhammad aka SALLAU
The convicts, Yusuf Muhammad (alias Sallau), a Nigeriene, Jabbi Alhaji Yalle, and Kabiru Muhammad were apprehended on 13th June, 2025, by the Department of State Services Counter Terrorism Unit in connection with cross-border criminal activities bordering on arms trafficking and terrorism.
The case, marked SS/45c/2026, was presided over by Justice Muhammad Nuraddeen Bello of High Court No. 23, Sokoto.

Jabbi Alhaji YALLE aka DanGoronyo
Delivering judgment, Justice Bello found all three defendants guilty as charged and sentenced them to death by hanging. The court also ordered the forfeiture of all monetary exhibits recovered from the convicts to the Federal Government.

Abia Police Command Arrests Suspect in Viral Assault Video (Images)
The Abia State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old man, Agwu Ukpo, who was captured in a widely circulated video allegedly assaulting a woman during a domestic dispute over a pot of soup.

In a press release signed by DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, LLB, ANIPR, MNISMA, Police Public Relations Officer for the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, police operatives from the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) apprehended the suspect following actionable intelligence.
Ukpo, a native of Akanu Community in Ohafia Local Government Area and resident of Okpuafor in Obingwa LGA, was arrested in connection with the incident that sparked public outrage across the state.

According to preliminary investigations, the assault occurred on April 4, 2026. The victim, Amarachi Chinyere, was washing dishes after a meal when she disposed of leftover soup that had been stored for three days. This reportedly triggered Ukpo’s anger, leading him to confront and physically assault her as she tried to explain her actions.
The landlord and eyewitness, Obinna Amaogu — also a native of Akanu in Ohafia LGA — stated that he had been accommodating both the suspect and the victim in his apartment because they hailed from the same village. Following the incident, Chinyere relocated to Lagos and had not been seen in the area since. However, the police have now established contact with her through a mobile phone number provided by members of her community.
The case is currently under investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). Upon completion of investigations, Ukpo is expected to be charged with assault and attempted murder.
The Abia State Police Command strongly condemned the act, describing it as “barbaric, inhumane, and unacceptable under any circumstances.”
The viral video of the assault had drawn widespread condemnation on social media, with many calling for the suspect’s immediate arrest and prosecution. Police assured the public that the matter is being handled with the seriousness it deserves.

EFCC Arrests Nigerian-American Over N434m Vehicle Import Fraud
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Directorate, have arrested a Nigerian-American, Adegoke Oluwatobi Adams, for allegedly defrauding victims of over $320,000 (approximately N434.88 million) in a cross-border vehicle import scam.
The suspect was apprehended following a complaint by victims who paid for a luxury vehicle that was never delivered.
According to the EFCC, findings revealed that two victims paid a total sum of $320,000 for the same vehicle. One victim, Ikechukwu Osita Ifeabunike, reportedly paid $145,000 through an intermediary, while another victim, Godson Azubuike Amans, allegedly paid $175,000.
The anti-graft agency stated that Adams allegedly posed as a legitimate vehicle importer, collecting huge sums from unsuspecting buyers under the pretense of facilitating the importation of high-end vehicles from the United States, but failed to deliver.
The EFCC has commenced investigation into the matter and assured that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
This arrest highlights the growing trend of sophisticated cross-border fraud schemes targeting Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora, with the EFCC intensifying efforts to curb such economic crimes.
