PDP will reclaim presidency in 2027

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will correct its mistakes in 2023 election and reclaim the presidency in 2027.

National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, spoke with reporters. He said: “We made a mistake in 2023 elections, but what matters for us is to take back the presidency in 2027.

“There is no faction in PDP, led by Umar Damagum. PDP is stable. We have held our congresses in 29 states and there are no issues, except a few minor matters, which are in every party.”

Anyanwu noted his long friendship with FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, tracing it back to their time as council chairmen.

He said any grievance against Wike should be addressed through  PDP Disciplinary Committee.

Addressing his position in the party, Anyanwu said despite a Court of Appeal ruling for his removal, he remained the national secretary due to an appeal filed at Supreme Court, with a stay of execution, and a standing Federal High Court judgment that validated his tenure.

He said legally, he will continue to hold the position until a final decision is made by Supreme Court.
