Ododo Says Kogi ’s Reaping Huge investment in Security

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has reiterated his unalloyed commitment to security, saying his administration will continue to enforce a zero-tolerance to the safety of lives and property in the state.
The Governor stated this in a chat with the Professional Hunters Tuesday in Lokoja, hailing the Vigilante Group for their “unbending, untiring and unwavering commitment to the security of Kogi State”.
Governor Ododo thanked the Professional Hunters for putting their lives on the line to ensure the security of Kogi people, saying that state is already reaping the huge investment in security.
He thanked the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and all the heads of security agencies for their support since he assumed office, saying their unflinching support has helped in stabilizing the security of the State.
The Governor thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for spotting a security czar like Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, saying the President’s talent spotting acumen has never been in doubt.
Earlier, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) commended the Governor for his avowed commitment to security, saying his efforts are already pushing criminals away from the state. Omodara thanked the Vigilante Group for their heroics, assuring the people that the State Government will continue to adopt “community-led security approach”.
Also the leader of the Group, Prof. Abdullahi Yau said the Professional Hunters were encouraged by the commitment and support of the Governor of the State.
He assured the State that the Group will continue to cooperate and collaborate with other security agencies to stamp out criminality from Kogi State.
In his closing remarks, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bethrand Onuoha thanked the Professional Hunters for living up to expectations and for cooperating with the conventional security agencies to fight insecurity in the State.
The Professional Hunters numbering about 300 have been in the State for over two months to work with the security architecture on ground in the State .
The meeting was attended by top government officials, Local Government Chairmen and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bertrand Onuoha.

Hardship: Govs Agree to Dismantle Illegal Road Blocks, Multiple Taxes
The communique was signed by NGF Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Governors of the 36 states of the federation have agreed to dismantle illegal road blocks and multiple taxes across the country.
They made the resolution after a meeting of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) in Abuja, which ended early Thursday.
The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who read the communique at the end of the meeting, said that the governors resolved to dismantle illegal road blocks and multiple taxes, which they said contributed to food inflation in the country.
The communique was signed by NGF Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

TCN Records 42 Incidents of Transmission Lines Vandalisms Within Seven Months
The major effect of the vandalism is the disruption of power supply across the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry, as the generated power from the generation station could not be wheeled to the distribution ends.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) recorded 42 vandalism incidents on its infrastructures between January to June 2025 and which affected a total of 178 transmission towers nationwide.
The General Manager of Transmission Service at TCN, Mr Ali Sharifa, who made this known yesterday in Keffi, Nasarawa State, lamented that 2024 and 2025 have been the most trying times for TCN concerning vandalism of its transmission line infrastructure by non-state actors.
“A total of 86 towers were vandalized in 2024, with 26 towers completely down, which left affected states in total darkness. While in the first and second quarters of 2025, a total of 42 acts of vandalism were recorded affecting a total of 178 towers,” he said.

The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has arrived at the Senate for the hearing on the ₦1.48 trillion budget of the state.

According to reports, Ibas was accompanied by other key officials, including members of the economic team to appear before Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Emergency Rule in Rivers State.
