JUST IN: Court Affirms Usman Ododo As APC’s Governorship Candidate in Kogi State

A Federal High Court in Abuja, today, dismissed a suit seeking to disqualify Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the November 11 governorship election in Kogi State.
Justice Obiorah Egwuatu, the judge, dismissed the case of Abubakar Achimugu a governorship aspirant who contended that Ododo wasn’t qualified to run in the election, on the grounds that the governorship candidate was still in the Kogi State public service at the point of obtaining his expression of interest form and participated in the primary election that produced him.
But Justice Egwuatu dismissed the case for lacking merit stating that the APC candidate and his running mate resigned as public servants and political appointees on the 8th and 9th of March 2023, more than 30 days before the APC Governorship primary held on 14th April.
The Court dismissed Achimugu’s argument that Ododo should have attached to his expression of interest form a copy of his resignation letter as proof of having done so.
