BREAKING NEWS: Atiku Abubakar Resigns from PDP
As a founding father of this esteemed party, it is indeed heartbreaking for me to make this decision.
Atiku Abubakar, Vice President 1999 -2007/ PDP presidential flag bearer in the 2023 election , on Wednesday, resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party.
Atiku declared his membership resignation in a letter dated Tuesday, July 14, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of PDP Jada 1 , Jada LGA, Adamawa.
It reads:
“I write to formally resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.I would like to take this opportunity to express my profound gratitude for the opportunities I have been given by the party, to served two terms as Vice President of Nigeria and being a presidential candidate twice has been one of the most significant chapters of my life.
As a founding father of this esteemed party, it is indeed heartbreaking for me to make this decision.
However, I find it necessary to part ways due to the current trajectory the party has taken, which I believe diverges from the foundational principles which we stood for.It is with a heavy heart that I resigned, recognizing the irreconcilable differences that have emerged.
I wish the party and its leadership all the best in the future.”

Former Kano State governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) chieftain, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has denied upteenth times that he isn’t working in the interest of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing those who believe such claims as foolish.

“I think only gullible people would believe that. We are not working for anybody. We are only working for Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC,” he said.
The denial followed allegations by Sanusi Bature, spokesperson for Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, that Kwankwaso had worked for Tinubu during the 2023 elections and had recently sought a direct meeting with the president.
Kwankwaso did not deny his personal relationship with Tinubu but insisted it had no bearing on his political direction.
“Bola Tinubu has been my senior brother and good friend up till now. But that doesn’t mean we shall pull all our political ideologies together with him. He is doing his own and I am doing my own,” he said.
