Niger Delta Activist and Scholar, High Chief Dennis Otuaro Congratulates President, Vice-President

A renowned Niger Delta activist, High Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro Phd., has congratulated the newly sworn-in President, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu (GCFR). and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima ( GFCON) on their successful swearing in on Monday, May 29th, 2023 as President and Vice President respectively.
In a Press Statement, signed by him personally, High Chief Dennis Otuaro, Phd, rejoiced with the new President, the Vice President for their swearing in ceremonies and urged them to give the people a fresh breath.
According to the Statement; On behalf of the people of the Niger Delta My Wife And I Chief (Mrs) Ebimoboere Dennis Otuaro and lovely children congratulate President Bola Tinubu, the Vice President on the historic event of today, Monday, May 29th, 2023. The long awaited May 29th, 2023, has eventually came, It is indeed a very good day for our people and to God be the Glory”.
“I want to appeal that now that you have taken the responsibilities to lead our people , we know that you will do your best to bring succour to our people. The Niger Delta Region should be given a special attention. We want to see massive transformation of the oil rich region in the next few years and adequate attention should also be given to other part of the country because our people are yearning for the best and nothing but the best is good enough for all our people”.
We prayed God to give the new President, the Vice President the wisdom of King Solomon to pilot the affairs of the nation to the admiration of the people.

FG Mandates 12 Years Entry Age Into JSS1 for Public and Private Schools

The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa on Friday announced the entry age for pupils seeking admission into Junior Secondary Schools (JSS1) after completing six years of primary education at 12.
This is contained in a new policy document on non-state schools as unveiled by the ministry.
He acknowledged that non-state schools (referred to as independent or private schools or non-government schools, are educational institutions not managed by the government) are increasingly playing a major role in education provision in the country, despite variations in the quality of education being offered across the categories of schools.
The Federal Ministry of Education emphasised that the age of enrolment, “Nursery education shall be of three years’ duration.
“Children shall be admitted into nursery one when they attain the age of three years, nursery two on attaining the age of four, and one year of compulsory pre-primary education (Kindergarten) on attaining the age of five years, by the specification of Section 2 (17) of the NPE, 2013 Edition.”
On the age of enrolment for junior secondary schools, the policy clearly stated that, “Basic education shall be of nine years’ duration.
There shall be a six-year primary and a three-year Junior Secondary School (JSS). Children shall be admitted into primary one when they attain the age of six years.
“Every child must complete six years of primary education. They shall be admitted into Junior Secondary School (JSS1) when they have completed six years of primary education, at around the age of 12 years.”

EKEDC: Prepare for 4-day maintenance outage
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in a customer notice on Friday, said the outage will take place from Monday, July 28, to Thursday, August 21, 2025, running daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will embark on a planned maintenance operation that is expected to last four days.
The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in a customer notice on Friday, said the outage will take place from Monday, July 28, to Thursday, August 21, 2025, running daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The company explained that the disruption is necessary to allow TCN to carry out critical maintenance works on the Omotosho – Ikeja West 330kV power line.
The repair activity is expected to lead to intermittent power outages and load shedding across EKEDC’s distribution network, which covers key areas of Lagos.

Senate Goes on Break Until September 23
“Standing and ad hoc committees must use the two-month break effectively to conclude their assignments for legislative consideration and adoption upon resumption,” Senator Akpabio stated.

The Senate has adjourned plenary activities until 23 September 2025.
The adjournment followed a motion moved by the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, after a closed-door executive session that lasted over an hour.
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, explained before the motion was seconded by Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro (PDP–Benue), that the break marks the end of the current legislative year.
He clarified that plenary was merely suspended and directed all ad hoc and standing committees to conclude work on pending reports ahead of resumption.
