Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, CON, extends his warm congratulations to Ilebaye Odiniya, the winner of the Big Brother Naija Allstars Season reality television show.

The governor commends Ilebaye, a Criminology graduate from Salem University, Lokoja, as a true Trendsetter. He believes her victory unequivocally confirms her brilliance, unwavering perseverance, and commendable humility.

“I am delighted to congratulate one of our own in Kogi State, Ilebaye Odiniya, for emerging as the winner of the Big Brother Naija Allstars Season reality television show. Ilebaye, you are a Trendsetter who has excelled in both academic and social spheres, and this victory is a testament to your brilliance, intellect, and maturity. Your determination, resilience, and poise set you apart during the three months you spent in the house,” he expressed.

Governor Bello, while celebrating Ilebaye’s achievement, also commends the outstanding performance of Kogi youths in various academic and social endeavors. He recalls the global recognition received by another Kogi youth, Oluwabukolami Adeyemi, who emerged as the overall best performer in the 2022 Cambridge IGCSE and Cambridge AS Level Examinations, earning her an overseas scholarship for further education.

The governor emphasizes that both Ilebaye and Oluwabukolami should serve as beacons of inspiration and motivation to other youths, not only in Kogi but across Nigeria.

Governor Bello reassures the citizens of the state that his administration remains committed to supporting and empowering the youth in their pursuit of legitimate aspirations. He affirms, “Our administration will continue to support and empower the youth through various initiatives aimed at fostering inclusion, job creation, and harnessing our natural youthful energy.”

He concludes by acknowledging Ilebaye as the face of a positive revolution in the history of African entertainment, not only for the youth of Kogi but for Nigeria, Africa, and the global community.

MultiChoice has launched Wethu+, a new entertainment channel on DStv channel 163.

The channel replaces Mzansi Wethu and pulls together content previously spread across Mzansi Wethu, Mzansi Bioskop and Mzansi Magic Music.

The launch forms part of what the pay-TV operator describes as its biggest package overhaul in nearly two decades, with dedicated Sports and Movies & Series bouquets now on offer.

What Wethu+ will show

Wethu+ combines local drama, movies, telenovelas, reality shows, children’s programmes and educational content in one place, according to MultiChoice.

The line-up also includes international blockbuster movies, dubbed telenovelas and daily news updates.Football is a major part of the offer.

MultiChoice confirmed that Wethu+ will broadcast two Premier Soccer League matches every weekend during the football season.

The company said pairing football with movies, drama and family programming gives subscribers sports and general entertainment on a single channel.

Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has approved the appointment of Nollywood actresses Rachel Okonkwo and Eucharia Anunobi as aides.

The appointments were contained in a public announcement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.

Mbah approved the appointment of 101 aides across three categories comprising seven Special Advisers, six Senior Special Assistants and 88 Special Assistants.

Madonna is set to return to stage after 23 years, with the pop star scheduled to open the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony.

The performance is set for Sunday, September 27, 2026, marking Madonna’s first VMAs performance since 2003.

She first appeared at the inaugural ceremony in 1984, when she performed “Like a Virgin,” and has remained closely associated with the awards throughout her career.

Madonna’s return comes as she promotes Confessions II, a follow-up to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor.

The project has been supported by a series of events known as Club Confessions.

She also enters this year’s ceremony with 11 nominations, the highest number received by any artist at the 2026 VMAs.

Her nominations include Artist of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing. She is also nominated for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration for “Bring Your Love,” featuring Sabrina Carpenter.
