A Nasarawa State-based gospel singer, Timileyin Ajayi, confessed to the Police why and how he killed his girlfriend -Salome Enejo Adaidu, on Sunday morning of January 12, 2025.

Salome, aged 24, was a National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member serving with Nicon Insurance in Abuja. She had visited her boyfriend- Ajayi, at his Papalana axis, New Karshi in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Ajayi, in a confessional statement,  told the Police that while they were together, they had a dispute over her phone.

Ajayi claimed that Salome attacked him with a knife and injured his hand, and in retaliation, he stabbed her in the neck, severed her head, and butchered her into pieces.

That morning,  Ajayi was caught by the members of a Church with Salome’s severed head concealed in a blood-dripping polythene bag.

When asked why he was carrying the head, Ajayi alleged that “a woman” instructed him to bring it for her.

According to the church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, Caleb Umaru, police officers took Ajayi and the decapitated head away.

She was cheating, I don’t regret killing her’ – Timileyin Ajayi

Timileyin Ajayi, aged 32, who was caught with the severed head of Salome Adaidu, has said he does not regret having killed her, as she was cheating on him with other men.

He told Channels TV: “I killed her because we don’t have each other all the time. It’s not something I planned.

It happened on that day and it happened. Not that I have a plan in mind.

“She was cheating. She hides most of the things from me most of the time.

I got to know from her phone. I saw her chats with other guys on the phone, that was why I decided.

“I don’t have any regrets because life is reciprocal that is what I thought. If you must do something to someone, you have to be reciprocal with that person.

“You have to understand what that person is going through so that you can put yourself in the position that the person is going through.

That is why I don’t have any regrets because we were compatible.”

We don’t know him – Salome’s family

However, Salome’s elder sister, Esther Adaidu, denied that any relationship existed between her deceased sister and the suspect, as she pleaded for justice.

She said: “This so-called Timi guy, we don’t know him. We had never seen him until we were called up to tell us that this guy murdered and dismembered our sister.

“I demand and need justice to be served to this guy sitting over there because he is the one who murdered my sister, and he confirmed it to me.”

Salome’s uncle, Samson Adaidu, spoke for the family: “The position of the family is we discovered this through the Nigerian Police and we are expecting justice from the police.

“He has succeeded in destroying our daughter. Not ordinary killing, he butchered her into pieces. He cut that body into more than 50 pieces.

“And when you look at the whole thing, he is preparing that body for consumption because he cut them and left them in about six polythene bags.”

There’ll be justice – Police

Police have promised justice in the matter. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, said: “Investigation is ongoing, and upon conclusion, he will be arraigned in court for prosecution.

I want to assure the family and members of the public that this suspect will not be spared if found wanting.

“We are calling on members of the public, who may have any complaints against the suspect, to come forward with their complaints, and it will be looked into and investigated.”

The Federal Government has arraigned three suspects in connection with the high-profile kidnapping of pupils and teachers from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on May 15, 2026.

The suspects, whose identities were not immediately disclosed for security reasons, were brought before a Federal High Court in Abuja on terrorism-related charges, including conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and links to the armed group responsible for the abduction.

The dramatic school attack saw heavily armed gunmen storm Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Community High School in Ahoro-Esinele, and L.A. Primary School, abducting around 46 pupils, students, and teachers, including a two-year-old toddler. One teacher was killed in captivity, heightening national outrage.

Security operations led by the military, police, DSS, and other agencies resulted in the rescue of all surviving victims after 56 days. Eight suspects were arrested in total during the operation, with several others neutralized. The three now facing formal arraignment are believed to be key figures or accomplices linked to the network, possibly including informants or logistics providers.

Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had earlier confirmed that no ransom was paid and no prisoner swap occurred, despite demands from the abductors for the release of detained Ansaru commanders Mahmud Usman and his deputy. The government maintained a firm stance, emphasizing justice for the victims and the slain teacher.

The arraignment underscores ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to dismantle criminal networks behind school attacks and banditry in the region. The suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the court adjourned the case for further hearing while remanding them in DSS custody.

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and security agencies have been commended for their roles in the rescue, even as communities call for sustained vigilance and improved school security in vulnerable areas. The incident has reignited debates on protecting educational institutions from such threats.

Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) TinCan Island Command have made a major drug bust, seizing a massive consignment of cannabis valued at an estimated ₦18.96 billion cleverly concealed inside imported vehicles from Canada.

The interception was announced by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, during a press briefing at the command. The operation was intelligence-driven and carried out in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to Onyeka, the seizure involved a 40-foot container (marked HAMU 429961) falsely declared as containing only used vehicles. A 100% physical examination revealed 185 jumbo bags of cannabis — commonly known locally as “tiga” — hidden inside two vehicles: a 2010 Toyota Camry and a 2023 Chevrolet.

Further inspection uncovered a total of 9,450 packages weighing 4,729 kilograms. The street value of the drugs was placed at ₦18.96 billion.

“This underscores the scale of the criminal attempt and the effectiveness of our enforcement strategies,” Onyeka stated. The seized drugs and vehicles have been formally handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution.

The bust comes shortly after a formal cooperation agreement signed between the NCS and NDLEA on April 27, 2026, aimed at enhancing intelligence sharing and joint operations against drug trafficking.

Customs officials have reiterated their commitment to zero tolerance for smuggling, warning that such activities pose serious threats to public health, national security, and the economy. No arrests were detailed in the briefing, but investigations are ongoing.

This operation highlights the continued vigilance of Nigerian border agencies in combating sophisticated smuggling tactics involving containerized imports.
