The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has dismissed the suspension of Fatai Adams, Chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the party by the State Working Committee, SWC.

The development indicates a brewing crisis within the party three months to the primary ahead of the November 16, 2024, governorship election.

According to the NWC, the suspension of Adams by the nine members of the SWC is null and void and have no effect.

The state chairman of the party was suspended on Tuesday by the executives of the party in the state over alleged anti-party activities.

Also, Adams had earlier stated that he is still the chairman of the party in the state, emphasising that his purported suspension was politically motivated.

In a statement issued by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, the NWC stated that the suspension was not in tandem with provisions of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017) and laid down rules.

Ologunagba further stressed that the SWC lacked the power to contemplate or suspend a state chairman without due recourse to the NWC as stipulated in the constitution of the party.

While disclosing that the NWC will not hesitate to take action against the development, he urged the SWC members to retrace their steps.

“The attention of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been drawn to the purported suspension of the Chairman of the Ondo State Chapter of our Party, Mr. Fatai Adams.

“The PDP is an organised political party governed by strict adherence to the provisions of its Constitution and Rules and will not allow any individual or group at any level to violate its Constitution and Rules.”

The Nigerian Police Force has released a prominent activist following intense public pressure and growing support for a revolutionary movement demanding justice and accountability. The activist, who had been held in what supporters described as an “unjust, unwarranted, and entirely unlawful detention,” was freed late Thursday night.

The release marks a significant moment for the movement, which has been calling for systemic reform and an end to what it describes as state repression. According to sources close to the activist, the police had no legal grounds for the arrest and were forced to capitulate under the weight of public scrutiny and advocacy.

Supporters gathered online and in the streets to celebrate the release, hailing it as a victory for civic resistance and a warning to authorities against future abuses of power.

Police officials have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the reasons for the detention or release.

The statement reads:

”The Nigerian Police Force has finally capitulated to the demands of our revolutionary movement. After subjecting me to an unjust, unwarranted, and entirely unlawful detention, they had no choice but to release me tonight”.

”However, this is not a victory to be celebrated with fanfare. It is not a moment for self-congratulation or eased tongues. It is simply a reminder of what we already knew that when we stand together, when we refuse to bow, even the most oppressive institutions are forced to bend or break!

”I am deeply grateful to every one of you who refused to look away, particularly our strong and ever-firm legal team, the advocates for justice, and the resisters who marched on the streets through this ordeal”.

”You all stood firm, raised your voices, and showed up in person, online, and at home in the diaspora”.

”It is your unwavering solidarity that made this outcome inevitable”.

”This moment is not an end. It is fuel. It is proof that unity works and that resistance is not futile. The struggle continues, fiercer and more focused than ever, UNTIL WE WIN!

The NPF is actively working to simplify and improve both the physical and contactless application options including enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures to reduce delays and eliminate undue inconveniences.

Members of the public are reminded that the authorized platform for the application and renewal of the Tinted Glass Permit is accessible via http://possap.gov.ng.
