Oil marketers in Nigeria have explained why Petrol price cant be less that N500/litre, following the adjustment of petrol price at retail outlets by the Nigerian National Petrol Company (NNPC) Limited.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) says the new pump price of a litre of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol can’t be less than N500.

IPMAN Deputy President, Zarama Mustapha, stated this on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme on Thursday, explaining that the NNPC being the sole importer of petrol fixes the price for oil marketers across the country.

According to him, oil marketers will now lift petrol at over N460/litre at fuel depots, add transportation cost and profit margin which will make the new pump price go as high as over N500 per litre.

Africa’s billionaire industrialist, Aliko Dangote, on Monday said that asides institutional and corporate investors, ordinary Nigerians -drivers, cooks, traders, servants and managers have an opportunity to own shares in the proposed initial public offering of Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

The signed prospectus puts the value of the offer at about $1.6 billion, while the IPO values the refinery at about $49 billion.

The IPO is scheduled to open on September 14 and close on October 13.

Dangote, during the IPO registration documents signing ceremony today, September 7,2026, in Lagos, described the transaction as an “IPO for the people” designed to democratise ownership of the massive industrial facility.

The IPO comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares at N525 each and is expected to raise just over N2 trillion, according to Dangote.The businessman said that the minimum subscription would be 10 shares.

“But it is not only to fund the expansion of the refinery, of course, it’s a bigger amount. What we are trying to do is to make sure majority of all these my—our drivers, our cooks, our, you know, servants, our managers, everybody, they will have an opportunity to have a stake in this refinery,” Dangote said.

He said the transaction was not solely about raising funds for expansion, adding that the objective was to give people across the continent an opportunity to own shares in the refinery.

“So, this is why we have actually called it the IPO for the people. This is why we say that this is democratizing,” he said.

“There is no segregation on who can own these shares. We want every human living on the continent to be part of this action, and I’m sure they will continue to be happy now, future, and forever.”

Dangote Petroleum Refinery is expected to sign its Initial Public Offer (IPO) Monday 7th September.

Ohibaba.com learned that the signing ceremony will take place at 11am, at Eko Hotels, Lagos.

The founder and Africa’s richest person, Aliko Dangote, is targeting a $50 billion valuation for the 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery.

The company plans to sell up to a 10 per cent stake, potentially raising around $5 billion in one of Nigeria’s biggest capital market deals.

It was further learned that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) weekend, approved the IPO of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, with the company offering 4.1 billion ordinary shares at N525 each.

The offer could raise approximately N2.15 trillion if fully subscribed, according to a statement issued by the Dangote Group on Sunday.

The SEC’s approval cleared the way for the next stages of the offering.

According to the Commission, the proposed offering comprises 4.1 billion ordinary shares at N525 per share, with the potential to raise approximately N2.15 trillion if fully subscribed.

The Aliko Dangote Foundation has taken over the management of the Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano state.

The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Foundation and the Kano State Government, on Friday.

Under the agreement, the Foundation will manage the multi-million naira facility for a number of years and operate programmes aimed at equipping young people with technical, digital and industrial skills.

Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Kano-Jigawa Branch, Muhammad Bello Isyaku Umar, described the intervention as “far-reaching and impactful,” saying skills acquisition remained one of the most effective ways of addressing youth unemployment in Nigeria..

“Programmes such as the Aliko Dangote Skill Acquisition Centre can equip young people with practical skills that enable them to become entrepreneurs, artisans or employees. The emphasis should increasingly be on modern technical, digital and industrial skills,” Umar said.

He described Kano as the economic and commercial hub of northern Nigeria and said the Foundation’s interventions across the region had extended to several sectors.
