BREAKING: Reps approve Tinubu’s State of Emergency in Rivers despite outcries

The House of Representatives has approved the declaration of a state of emergency for Rivers State despite stiff opposition from stakeholders.
The House also approved the six-month suspension imposed on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all elected members of the assembly via a voice vote on Thursday.
In the meantime, President Tinubu has Forwarded the Gazette on the Proclamation of State of Emergency in Rivers State to the Senate.

BREAKING: Tears as Katsina State Governor Radda’s Mother Dies

Dikko Umar Radda, the governor of Katsina state, has lost his mother, Hajia Safara’u Radda.
Isah Miqdad, Radda’s former aide on digital media, announced the sad news via his known X handle on Sunday morning, March 23.

JUST IN: Gunmen abduct DHQ official, two others in Abuja, demand N100m ransom

Gunmen have abducted a Nigerian Navy officer attached to the Defence Headquarters, Lt. Cynthia Akor, along with two others in Abuja.
The victims were kidnapped from their residence in the Mpape area of the Federal Capital Territory on Friday night.
A resident in the area said the kidnappers have contacted the families of the hostages, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release.
“Among the three people that were kidnapped on Friday night in the Mpape area is a DHQ official, Akor.
“The kidnappers have already reached out to their families and are demanding N100m ransom,” the resident said.
Efforts to reach the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, and the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, were unsuccessful, as they had yet to respond to messages as of the time of filing this report.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said she would confirm the incident and provide further details.
“I will confirm and get back to you shortly,” she simply stated.
She has not reverted as of the time of filing this report.

JUST IN: WAEC releases 2025 computer-based WASSCE results for private candidates

The West African Examinations Council has released the results of the 2025 Computer-based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates.
In a post obtained from its X handle on Saturday, the examination body said, “The results of the Computer-based West African Senior School Certificate Examination for Private Candidates, 2025-First Series have been released.
”Reacting to the developments, some students lamented inability to check their results.
An X user with the name Ephrata said, ” I checked mine now they’re saying my card has been used by another candidate.
And this my first time of using it. Why is that? I bought scratch card same thing. Please I want you to reply me and tell me what wrong with it, so I can make the next steps.”
Another user with X account registered under endowedToBad, said “My student has not been able to check Nov/Dec 2024 result till now.
”Another X user called Bigname said, “Good morning, please I’m trying to re download my photo card so as to check my result pin but it’s saying that registration is not allowed this period while another X user named Trillions shared a screenshot of the negative response he got trying to check his result online.
