Benin Monarch Set to Hold Mother’s Funeral

Benin monarch Oba Ewuare the second has released timetable for his mother’s funeral Iyioba Ewuare the second who passed fouty nine years ago.

In a statement signed by the secretary Benin traditional council frank Irabor said the funeral rites was delayed till after the coronation of the monarch in line with the customs and traditions of the Benin kingdom.

According to the statements, the first phase of the programme will begin in uselu by five junction on the 15th of February and it’s expected to run for fourteen days.

Other activities is scheduled for the first of march to climax on the 27th with Ekasa performance at the palace of the monarch in Benin.

The statement warned that the use of coral beads will not be allowed during the private royal family ceremonies in Benin.

Court Orders Remand of 34 Individuals Over Alaba Rago Street Trading

At least 34 persons have been remanded in prison custody by a Magistrate Court sitting in Bolade Oshodi on Tuesday till July 22.

The traders were arrested for engaging in street trading along the median of the Alaba Rago -Ojo on the Lagos -Badagry Expressway.

According to reports, the arraigned persons made up of 32 male and 2 female were arrested over the weekend in an operation by KAI and LAWMA operatives to clean and clear the median of the Alaba Rago Ojo road which has been taken over by different traders that have erected illegal structures.

Some of those arrested include miscreants who slept in makeshift shed errected on the median to perpetrate crime in that area.

Those arrested and arraigned were identified as Ibrahim Abu – 35yrsIsiaka Ashafa – 31yrsShaibu Isa – 55yrs.Abubakar Haruna – 29yrs, Aminu Haruna – 21yrs, Aminu Abdullahi – 20yrs, Zakariyahu Yahusa- 50yrs, Sunmola Musa – 25yrsSamsideen Ali – 21yrs.

Others include Anthony Oyibo – 68yrs, Abubakar Yusuf- 25yrs,Muhammed Oseni – 27yrs, Aliu Mohammed – 45yrs, Lookman Adebayo – 43yrs, Igudu Ibrahim – 25yrs Awalu Umar – 25yrs, Sani Babangida – 25yrs, Abdullahi Usman – 24yrs, Aliu Ibrahim – 25yrs Roland David – 19yrs, David Timothy – 18yrs, Yusuf Adamu – 23yrs, Abdulsalam Sanusi – 25yrs, Nura Yusuf – 25yrs, Idris Isa – 23yrs, Nasiru Ali – 25yrs, Mayi Daniel – 22yrs Isaac Samuel – 25yrs, Yahaya Mamuda – 18yrs, Salisu Ibrahim – 28yrs, Yusuf Adamu – 20yrs, Abdullahi Musa – 20yrs, Fadipe Bose – 33yrs – Female and Ebere Ndubuisi – 35yrs – Female.

While speaking on the development, the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, reiterated the resolve of the present administration to enforce the law on all those who exhibit deviant behaviours.

He urged all residents to exhibit the minimum standard of decency by contributing to a cleaner and sustainable Lagos.

JUST IN: Fuel tanker explodes on Ibadan road, causes traffic jam

A fuel tanker exploded today along the busy Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State, sparking a massive fire and severe traffic congestion between the Oremeji and Olorunsogo axis.

As of the time of filing this report, no casualties had been confirmed, but the inferno was still ongoing as emergency responders battled to contain the blaze, reports NAN.

The Oyo State Fire Service confirmed the incident, with its General Manager, Akinyemi Akinyinka, stating that personnel were promptly deployed to the scene.

“Yes, a tanker is on fire near Sumurah, between Olorunsogo and Oremeji,” Akinyinka told reporters, “Our response team is already at the scene.”

The explosion has caused a major traffic gridlock on the expressway, with stranded commuters and motorists advised to seek alternative routes.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid the area for their safety, while efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby properties continue.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Lagos for Abuja today, after a two-week break in the nation’s economic centre where he celebrated Eid al-Adha.

Tinubu was accompanied to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and other government officials.

The president had during his stay received a retinue of top dignitaries in his residence and commissioned some projects among other activities.
