First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Welcomes Baby of the Year 2025 , Choma Oyigbo
During the event, baby Chioma Odion Oyigbo, born at 12:27 a.m. and weighing 3.6 kilograms, was celebrated as the first baby of 2025.
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended her warm congratulations to the first baby of the year, a female child born at the Asokoro General Hospital, Abuja.
Represented by Hajia Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, the First Lady shared her prayers and words of encouragement with the parents of the newborn.
In the message signed by Busola Kukoyi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the First Lady of Nigeria, Hajia Shettima urged parents to prioritize the health and well-being of their children, emphasizing the importance of proper care and attention.
During the event, baby Chioma Odion Oyigbo, born at 12:27 a.m. and weighing 3.6 kilograms, was celebrated as the first baby of 2025.
She was presented with gifts, cash, and a hard copy of her birth registration certificate. Other newborns at the hospital were also presented with gifts to mark the special occasion.
Earlier, in her New Year’s message, Senator Oluremi Tinubu reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s economy and improving the lives of citizens.
She urged Nigerians to foster unity, love, and understanding as the nation embarks on a new chapter.
“As we journey through 2025, let us rise above our differences and rebuild the bridges that connect us—bridges of love, respect, and understanding.
It is a year to invest in one another; to nurture our youth and protect the dignity of our elders; to create a country where every Nigerian can thrive, regardless of where they are born, what they believe, or what language they speak,” the First Lady stated.
She called on Nigerians to stand together in unity, ensuring that no one is left behind in the pursuit of a better nation.
“Together, we can build the Nigeria we all desire. Together, we will. Happy New Year, Nigeria,” she concluded.

Kogi closes schools following hints of bandits attack
He commended the security agencies for providing timely intelligence and assured residents that authorities are working around the clock to identify and dismantle criminal hideouts across the state.
The Kogi State Government on Tuesday ordered the temporary closure of all schools across the state until February 16, saying a stitch in time, saves students, teachers, and school facilities.
The State’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, told journalists in Lokoja that the move was based on credible intelligence and was taken as a precautionary measure rather than out of fear.
” The government chose to act proactively to prevent potential threats and ensure the safety of everyone within the education system,” said Kingsley Femi Fanwo.
“Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has directed all relevant agencies to immediately put in place the necessary measures to guarantee that schools resume as soon as it is safe, without disrupting the academic calendar,” Fanwo said.

A fresh bandit attack today on Doma, a community in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State’s Southern Senatorial District has left more than 20 people dead.
The Chairman of Faskari Local Government Council, Bala Ado, who confirmed the incident via telephone confirmed that several others sustained varying degrees of injuries, while more than one hundred residents have been displaced
The attack lasted for nearly three hours, from about noon to 3 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
He added that burial arrangements for the victims are expected to take place on Wednesday.
