The national coordinator of #TakeItBackMovement, Juwon Sanyaolu, has insisted on the nationwide protest scheduled for Thursday to mark the June 12 Democracy Day, saying that demonstrations would take place in at least 20 states.

June 12 was adopted in 2018 by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari as Nigeria’s Democracy Day in honour of the winner of the June 12, 1993, election, Moshood Abiola.

In a statement, the organisers Tuesday released a list of designated locations where demonstrators are expected to gather.

This year’s commemoration marks 26-year uninterrupted democratic rule in the country.

The organisers said the protest is against hardship, insecurity and a “shrinking civic space” under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“In Abuja, protesters will assemble at Eagle Square by 8:00 a.m. In Lagos, there are four rally points: Badagry, Maryland, Agbara, and Toll Gate, all starting from 7:00 a.m.,” he said.

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has introduced a new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to fix inconsistencies in tax services across its over 300 offices nationwide.

In a statement, Mr. Collins Omokaro, Special Adviser on Communications and Advocacy to the FIRS Executive Chairman, stated that the move aims to make tax processes clearer, more transparent, and easier for Nigerians.

He emphasized that the updated SOP is a key part of the agency’s plan to improve taxpayer experience.

He explained that, in the past, different FIRS offices used different methods, which often confused taxpayers.

“This is about people, experience, and impact. It’s a step toward a tax system that supports voluntary compliance and national development,” Omokaro said.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted thunderstorms and rain from Wednesday to Friday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja envisaged early morning thunderstorms on Wednesday over parts of Taraba, Kaduna and Adamawa in the northern region.

It anticipated thunderstorms with rain over parts of Kebbi, Taraba, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Gombe and Bauchi States later in the day.

, early morning thunderstorms are expected over parts of Benue, Kwara, Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, and Nasarawa States in the North Central region.

“Later in the day, thunderstorms with rain are anticipated over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi and Plateau States.

“In the southern region, a cloudy atmosphere is expected with chances of morning rain over parts of Ondo, Ekiti and Edo States.“

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms with rain are anticipated over parts of Imo, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Anambra, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Rivers during the afternoon or evening hours,” it said.
